Just like other diets, the Atkins Diets is divided into three phases which include carbohydrate is restriction which is less than 20 grams per day for the Phase 1.  For Phase 2, slight carbohydrate intake is permitted to encourage a gradual ongoing weight loss of the individual. And for Phase 3, continuous intake of carbohydrates is encouraged once the ideal weight is achieved and stabilized.

In the world of diabetics, the Atkins Diet is one of possible stable solution in slowly curing their disease. Although more diabetics testify to the effectiveness of the diet, it is very important first to do some background checking. The first thing you have to know is where among the two types of diabetes you belong. Type 1 diabetics are not capable of producing insulin themselves and largely depend on regular injections of insulin. For people who have Type 2 diabetes, they are capable of producing some insulin themselves but they need to efforts to stabilize this.

The Glaring Pros and Cons

Indeed, nothing is more than important than taking care of our health. But sometimes, due people's over enthusiasm to finding fast solution to their impending dilemma, some people would impulsively jump over the Diet bandwagon without contemplating on it first. Despite the accounts of its wonders, it wouldn't hurt if you'll look closely into the pros and cons of the Diet.

When it comes to benefits, the Diet assures that there will be no need to cut out the fatty foods because you are allowed to eat as much as you can. And since not all carbohydrates count in the total allowance, the individuals enrolled can choose foods rich with in dietary fiber because is not digested.

On the other hand, some experts disagree that the Atkins diet is not ideal diet for diabetics because the metabolism involved in using fat for energy instead of carbohydrates can lead to more complicated diseases. Some experts also believe that the high amount of animal fat that is eaten on the Atkins Diet could've had a bad effect on the person's cholesterol levels and eventually lead to cardiac disease.

Despite its popularity, it pays to know that a prominent institution like the American Heart Association's declared that the Atkins Diet does not conform to their dietary guidelines for a healthy heart.

After knowing which type you belong to, you can now have an idea is the Diet can be good to you. And although there are reliable accounts that the Atkins Diet is good for diabetics, there is still no existing proof that the effects of the diet can be for good.
